Southern
Pacific of California
Box Car No. 14366
Southern Pacific of California No. 14366 was built by the Ensign
Manufacturing Company in Huntington, West Virginia, in 1882 as No. 1626. In the
SP Pacific System renumbering of 1891 it received No. 14366. It still carries
the large "Sunset" logo with "Southern Pacific Company" in
use between 1891 and 1898. Retired in 1910 at Mound House, it became a storage
shed in Carson City, still carrying its early knuckle couplers. It was donated
to the Railroad Museum in early 1991.
