Arrived in Reno with the "Genoa," and "Empire," the "Esmeralda" saw freight service 1873-1878, but was placed in storage (1897). Sold (May 17, 1901) to Colonel Edgar K. Smoot, of Manzanillo, Mexico, agent for United Commercial Co. and railroad contractor. Later to the Mexican Government Railways.
